Someone almost had a new wreck on Minnetonka. only 4 feet of water but I am sure he needed to wipe. Here is the story with a video:
A really sad story. As was mentioned the truck should not have been there. Hope they get a nice fine....

As usual a sub contractor found a way to do the job cheaper. Remember the state is required to consider the lowest bidder....
The job suppose to be done with lowest impact. The reality is threes were cut and the construction material was hauled over the ice to the island. All not as specified

Does any one check up on the work contractors do with our tax money?

Andreas
The news reported they will not be fined because they didn't break any laws, but good judgement is in question. I heard reports of the truck weighing anywhere from 26,000-40,000 pounds.
I really don't see what the problem is, this is how it is normally done.  Take the house that was moved across the lake.  Ever seen the movie Ice Road Truckers?
I am just thinking in terms of recommended ice thickness for snowmobiles and cars. Then wondering what the recommended thickness would be for a 40,000 pound dump truck.

Approximately 20 inches depending on numerous variables.
This is a good read.
