Does anyone know if the there was an excursion boat scuttled in White Bear Lake back in the 1920's? If so, has anyone actually dove on it, are the GPS coordiantes known? A couple of buddies and myself scanned the 80 foot hole with a depth finder, but was unable to determine if a hull is down there.
I've heard that too. There's an article in the White Bear Press archives that mentions two...
"Still eluding him are the steamers that traversed the lake in the late 1800s and early 1900s. According to the âLooking Back at White Bear Lakeâ history book, at least two steamers have sunk.
"Built at Ramaleyâs Boat Works in 1899, the 80-foot âWhite Bearâ reportedly was sent to the lake bottom by a fire. The Dispatch hosted up to 300 passengers for parties and dances before it was dismantled and sunk."
