Say you are on a deep dive and something goes horribly wrong. You have racked up a considerable decompression obligation and had to do an emergency ascent for what ever reason. You are hours away from any medical attention and 6 to 8 hours away from a hyperbaric chamber. You are now on the surface conscious, and if not already seriously bent it is only a matter of time. Death is a real possibility. You are either a technically trained diver or are diving with someone who is and have a stage bottle with 100% 02. The water is clear with excellent visibility.
