I finally got in the water this summer at Square Lake for a few practice dives. I managed to shoot this critter at the very end of my second dive at about 17ft. I thought it was a snail, but after I began developing the picture I'm not so sure. Anyone know what this is? Shot with a 60mm macro lens.

I see a hydra on the one side. wiki has interesting thread.



hydra can regenerate, some believe them to be one of few imortal long living organisms. they also require very clean water, and are a sign of high water quality. there is one local lake, that besides having super clear water, has so many hydras that the plants look hairy!

the main mass might be a small species frog eggs? what depth?
