Sounds like Mortenson will be building the Vikings Stadium. I think they are calling it The Peoples Stadium and I can't comment on what I think about the name... To me it will be the Vikings Stadium. When Mortenson built Target Center in 1988, I was an apprentice carpenter doing layout on that project. At the time we called it the Timberwolves Arena. When Mortenson built the Excel Energy Center, we called it the Arena. When Mortenson built the TCF Bank Stadium, while I was a superintendent on that project, we called it the Gophers Stadium. When Mortenson built Target Field, while I was a superintendent on that project, we called it the Twins Stadium. I still have a hard time with the way these things get named with the naming rights going to different organizations. I am happy that a construction company based in Minneapolis won the bid on this $975,000,000 project!
