bio luminescence - jtj333 - 04-30-2002

Hello, i just got back from belize this morning.  I did my first night dive sunday night at Hol-Chan marine reserve, wow it was awesome, at the end of the dive my buddy motioned for me to turn off my light.  I did and it was like one of the most fascinating things i ever seen. it glowed neon green everywhere! when we swooshed our hand through it made trails that were even brighter! out of the water and looking down in the water you could see it everywhere. Anybody know what this stuff is ive never seen or heard about it but is was awesome. jtj333@aol.com

<br>You find bio luminescence in many marine organisms.  I believe what you were seeing was the light emited by the phytoplankton or marine bacteria.  Sometimes I wish all dives were night dives. Smile
