foot work went well. we got clear water. it is indeed softer bottom. but excellent vis to make up for it.we have scoped out some interesting spot..... hope to see the group tomorrow if they dont part too hard tonight.

ohhh , i wanted to see a musky so of course scuba freak came face to face with nice Tiger musky. then since hes interested in walleyes. i of course ran over a beast of an walleye... while nice to see, i really prefer to see the musky

amazing weekend. 20inches clear ice + 4inches compacted snow ice.=24inches! new spot. research dives provided one anchor and a tiger musky. out of two holes. next day with full crew and 4 more holes and 5 anchors later. with one man in hanging in the hole, one on line tender, i walk in to look down....i couldn't even speak.....im like.hay hay.guys guys . are you looking...(of course they are BSing and not paying attention) all the while a giant grayish-green log of a musky is slowly finning thru between the guy in the waters legs! it was a giant. my guess is over 40lbs. ..at this point everyone looks down and was amazed! thats two musky in two days...you could see the hole from 50ft away! by far the best vis so far. also strange underwater current. strange lake with a number of thin ice posted areas.I dont think we have yet found the best spot on this lake. some were there is a honey hole that is likely one of the best ice spots in the greater metro. ......

..and once again. from a group of nay sayers.look whose laughing again.

I wanted to title this, "THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF OPERATING A HUGE TOOL",,,, but decded to just tell you guys about it instead. I thought, after Millacs I needed a longer blade so I opted for a 42" Oregon, (up from my 32" Huskavarna, which is actually manufactured by Oregon). First thing I noticed was the blade gets thicker, from .050" to .063",,,,, not a big factor, and you keep the same pitch so you keep the same drive gear, pretty simple so far. The big change come when your looking down at that monster, ITS HUGE!!!! But then I remembered that was how a couple years ago the Mpls Star described,,,, me, in "Meet the Monster" so I figuired it was,,, monster to monster. I held my nerve, and fired her up, I could feel the power, it wasn't some wispy little saw like Johns, or Roberts, or even a respectable saw like Young Joes at 87 ccs, this was 95ccs of pure wild ice ripping animal! I felt my knees start to shake, was it the size of my huge tool I was holding??, or was it that I was in a rental suit from John at Scuba Center, without a relief zipper, with only one kidney? I decided from now on, only one can of Coke before cutting the hole. Turned out to plunge cut a 42" blade with an unmodified chain is more work then my 32" modified chain but only really in the amount of force needed to drive the tip in, after that its about the same amount of work, in 22" of ice. Having full rakers sure brings up a lot of water though.. I'll add a couple pics to let you guys see this monster,,
