ringing ears ??
I just started scuba this winter and finished the pool portion of the program. I am able to clear my ears as I go down in the pool but afterwards I have had a ringing sound in my ears. when I surfaced my ears were pluged and the ringing gets better as the days go by. am I doing something wrong??

are others having this same problem??

Re:ringing ears ??
I would recommend seeing an ear specialist to have it checked out. I had some problems one time and it turned out to be just a build up of wax in the ear.

Re:ringing ears ??
I use AURO-DRI, to get the water out of my ears after diving. I don't have a ear ringing problem but perhaps that will help. If the problem persists I would also recomend seeing a doctor. If you are having problems at less then 2 ATA I would think the problem will not get better with added pressure "going deeper". Don't wait to take care of it in the summer. You might miss alot of diving. Have you tried working your jaw back and forth? This will help to open your ear canal.

I too use Auro-Dri after each day of diving to prevent ear infections. You can also make your own home brewd formula mixing up some vinegar/alcohol/peroxide. I find if I do not put in drops after diving, especially in the summer when the water is warmer and there is more nasty stuff in the water that I will develop ear infections. I have had no problems at all when I remember to use drops regularly. I've had a couple ear infections in the past that took a week to clear up with antibiotics because I forgot to use drops.
Another helpful tip is to make sure you clean your ears regularly especially if you tend to build up a lot of earwax like I do. You can have this done at the doctor or you can do it yourself. I use the device in this link to clean my ears once every couple months or so and it works great. It's very easy to use and it will not damage your ears if used as directed. It works just like the ear syringes the doctors use except the tip is angled so you can use it yourself in the shower instead of needing someone else to do it for you.

Re:ringing ears ??
I got a kick out of these lines in the instructions..."Don't use to remove sharp or pointed objects like insects. "
"Will it remove a bug that crawled in my ear?
No. Hold a flashlight towards your ear and the bug will crawl towards the light."
I may have to get myself one of thse as well. And definately some Auro-Dri.
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but, a true friend will be sitting next to you saying, "Damn...that was fun!"
