Spearfishing
Time to put this thread where it belongs- in the freediving section! Wink

We were out yesterday, after the snow melted >Sad, and my buddy, Ted, got the best shot I have ever seen- two fish at once! Since I didn't believe it either, here's the proof. 8)

Lake Mendota, in Madison. It's about 5 miles form my house, but can really only be dove about half the year because it get's so greened up with algae in hte summertime. THey just passed some bans on certain types of fretilizers which should help to clean up the lakes in a few years.

Re:Spearfishing
Can you spear panfish in WI,SD,IA,ND?

I know in minnesota you can only spear rough fish, just wondering what the closest lake is to twin cities for spearing game fish.

Re:Spearfishing
In "MOST" of Wisconsin you can spear both rough fish and panfish, but no game fish.

I don't get too sad about this since they just announced that every lake in the state has some form of water contamination. That measn that gamefish shouldn't be eaten that often, but panfish can still be eaten on a weekly basis, or more.

I am not sure about rules in those other states.

The general rule about spearfishing on the great lakes is to take the most conservative spearfishing rules from all of the states that border that lake and apply them to the whole lake-at least that's how they were explained to me.
