head to rochester MDC SPORTS, its right off of hwy 52

id go to mdc beforer rlt divers. 90% of all the scuba classes done in mankato are done by MDC SPORTS. roch is not that much futher from mankato driving time. you can get to rochester from mankato in a hour easy.

your other option is head north to burnsville which is closer then fairmont (rlt divers local)

dec 5th diving was in mankato but moved awhile back.

mdc # is 1-507-288-8802

Re:Where can one fill tanks in Southern MN??
I politely disagree with Mr Sandoz. There is no way to make shorter the trip from Mankato to Rochester. I have tried Burnsville and Rochester before, and Fairmont is still the closest place for Mankatoans to fill tanks. A trip to Rochester from Mankato takes more than an hour fifteen minutes. Fairmont is only 45 minutes or less from Mankato.

There is absolutely no way to reduce driving time between Roch. and Mankato unless you eliminate Janesville, Waseca, and Owattona and their traffic lights from the face of the planet. Another problem regarding Rochester is that if you live in Mankato you will have to use highway 14 which is not necessarily among the friendliests roads in MN. Highway 14 has the highest accident rate in MN according to MNDOT.

You can have your tanks filled almost anytime at RLT Divers because the owner of the store rented an apartment in the same building to the guy who operates the compressor. He is always there regardless if the store is closed. Just ring the store door bell and he will come and fill your tanks. He also can rent tanks.

Aquatically yours and Happy Diving,

JJ

ooooo time differance

u forget people drive at diff speeds. but lets not forget customer service quality and other factors when visiting a dive shop. the vibe, ambeance(sp) etc tells alot about the shop and mind set.

also, lets look at store hours. mdc and fantasea are open till 7-8 weekdays and what like 6 at weekends. rlt divers store hours last time i was there was closed at 5. now most mankato scuba divers ARE COLLEGE KIDS( fact), and most work during the day and dont have the time to make it down before the closing time( if it is still around 5).

most divers have store loyalities, its understandable, most never leave the dive shop that trained them.
