MOORHEAD, MINN. -- Seven men arrested Sunday face charges of selling liquor to Patrick Kycia, a Minnesota State University, Moorhead student whose body was found in the Red River five days after he drank heavily at a fraternity party.

The men, all in their early or mid-20s, face charges of selling liquor to a minor resulting in death, selling alcohol without a license and procuring alcohol to a person under 21 years old, Moorhead police said. The first charge is a felony. The other two are gross misdemeanors.

Two other men, also in their 20s, were also arrested and face the same gross misdemeanor charges.

The men were being held in the Clay County jail and were to appear in court this morning.

Kycia, 19, of Stillwater, was last seen alive Sept. 22 at a party at the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity house. His friends say he was served shots of hard liquor and beer at the party. His body was found Sept. 27 in the Red River, about two miles from the fraternity.

Kycia was not a member of the fraternity, but police had searched the fraternity house in conjunction with his disappearance.

The fraternity has said that none of its members gave Kycia any drugs or alcohol. Kycia's death has been ruled a drowning. Toxicology reports have not been released.
