Good to hear! I reckon airlines like those prolly let that type of stuff slide, since most of their destinations are to places where divers frequent. I would guesse divers make up a good portion of their business.

When we were going through the security check in Coz 3/4/06 One of my bags was also over the 44lbs limit. I opened it up and the guy doing the checking saw my dive light and ask if I was carrying dive gear. Oh, Oh.............................
I said yes, he says dive gear, 70lbs limit good to go

I flew Northewest back in Jan. and had no problems. They just x-rayed my carry on a few times with a strange look of confusion on their face.  Like started before just don't send your tanks through.
