Drowning at Wazee
From the Star and Trib:

Wisconsin man tries to rescue son, drowns
Last update: June 04, 2006 – 5:36 PM

MILWAUKEE — A 37-year-old man trying to rescue his son drowned on Saturday in Lake Wazee, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department said.
Scott Zobeck, of Alma Center, went into deep water at the lake near Black River Falls to retrieve his son, Lt. Pat LaBarbera said in a news release.

He pulled the boy out but fell into the water, LaBarbera said. Zobeck was under water for about 10 minutes until snorkelers found him beneath the surface and pulled him to shore.

Zobeck had been at the park with his fiancee and their children.

Lake Wazee is the state's deepest inland lake. It's not clear how deep the water was where Zobeck drowned.

The drowning was the second in a lake in Jackson County in about two weeks. On May 26, Mario Genna, 52, of Black River Falls, fell out of a canoe on the Black River and drowned.
