I don't know why everyone gets so wired up about the Fitz.  ;D
There is 100s of hrs. of video tape of the wreck site.
There are tens of thousands of still pictures of the site.
It is Federally protected.
You can be seriouslly fined for diving within 500 meters of the site.
And it has already been dived, kind of like sloppy seconds.
If you really want the Big D*** Award why not look at the Harriet B. >
Right in our own back yard, just outside of Two Harbors.
No one died, so no family to deal with.
And it has never been dived. ;D
And yes Mark Y you will have to remove your buzzer.

Bob, how deep is the Harriet B?  I haven't been able to find much information on it other than an old photograph.

We have an old railcar ferry lying 3 miles from two harbors......what a dive!!!!!! the harriet b. previously the pere marquette ferry no 16........one small problem........

The last newsletter on line from the GLSPS is Fall 2005.
That is to bad because the first 3 pages of the Spring 2006 newsletter cover the Harriet B.
If you belong to the GLSPS check your old newsletters.

The Harriet B. was 283 ft long and started it's life as a carferry. It is a cool ship because it was built when ships were converting wood constrution to steel. That means it is a composite ship(wood sheathed with steel).
It was a wood ship that was empty when it was hit in the fog by the 504ft steamer Quincy Shaw.
Today it sits upright and because of its slow sinking is in real good shape.
It is in about 640ft. of water.
Six of us lead by Randy Beebe and Jerry Eliason have collected about three hours of drop camera footage on the site.
Unfortunately I can't run a table on this dive because my deco software ONLY goes to 600ft.
Go big or stay on the porch. ;D
