Mother of all anchor dives
I got to the lake little before Steve did a little scouting.  I picked a spot to the west of the landing on the side of a long sandbar.  We picked a spot in about 18 feet of water with it getting down to 4 feet on the shallow end of our reach. We experienced our share of difficulties getting 34 inches of ice out of the hole :o. I went in first and quickly discovered I had a leaky inflater valve on my dry suit. I didn't cover very much ground and was only down for about five to 10 min. and started to get pretty cold.  So I headed back. Steve was in next.  It didn't take long, and he was back with two really nice anchors.  He went back out again to the same general area, and within minutes I was receiving the four tugs.  I pulled him back in and he had two more anchors! :o the scenario was repeated three more times !!! :o ;D ;D.   I had never seen or heard of this many anchors being recovered in one spot. I think it's safe to say that this spot hadn't been Dove for quite awhile. This for me clearly answers one of the previous posts on why we pick these different areas. You just never know what you're going to find. I find it very exciting to be diving in areas that probably have never been seen by another diver.  It's like opening a door to the past..........

ps. yes the ropes were tied to the truck. With the amount of booty recoved on this dive, we thought we might need a little extra diesel power to get things in 8)

Nice booty! What did you do with all those anchors? People really need to learn to tie knots huh? Mille Lacs near the walleye spots is like that too.  Lots of anchors. All kinds of ice fishing gear too. Wish I could have been there. I'll start another thread for this weekend.

"What did you do with all those anchors?"

I gave them to Shooter. I don't own a boat and the scrap value on iron is something like $250 per ton and I'm not about to drag 2000 pounds of anchor in my van for 12 cents a pound.

It was easily the best time I've had on an ice dive. If you find yourself laughing in your reg... It's a good day.
