Lake bottom caracteristics.
I was diving a lake in the Elk River area (Twin Lakes) and noticed that the bottom on the south side was very mucky (couldn't touch bottom with my hand) but got better as I got to the east side (maybe 1/2 inch deep). Is there any rhyme or reason to this in comparison to other lakes?  ??? ex. moss growing on the north side of the tree.

Thanks for your help. This will help me have a better dive plan in a lake.

Re: Lake bottom caracteristics.
If this was Orono Lake I think I know why. The lake was dredged years ago and I dont know where in the lake they dredged. The area with no silt would have been where they dredged and the area with heavy mud is where they spilled the "silt" while dredging.

Thank you for the reply. The lake I dove is east Twin Lake. It was a fun dive. I got there in the evening as the ski boats were laving the lake.
here is a link to the lake if it helps
