rent a fish house, and dive. Drive your vehicle out on the ice and leave it running, and dive. You gotta want it ;D  or go with one of the local dive shops on their outings...

Ask around about renting a "Dark House Spearing Shelter!!!!"  That should have a big enough hole to dive through!
My name is Lisa and I'm a SCUBAholic. It's been toooo long since my last dive!

most of the spear holes aren't really big enough to be dive holes (although I have been tempted to try it)  they are big enough the long way, but not quite wide enough to accommodate a torso and tank width combo, or shoulder width (unless you've got a diminuitive diver!)
Some people are like Slinkeys - not much good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs!

Re: Renting a Ice Diving houes
I will try to remember that next time my dive buddy (Tim Thomas) stomps on my head as a means to get by body and equipment through the spear hole.

I was helping Tim conduct an ice diving class on Square Lake back in January of 2004 when a nearby fisherman came over and inquired about retrieving his glasses that had fallen through his spear hole.  The next morning we came out prior to the class, I put the gear on, tied the line to my harness and in the hole I went.  Tim then lowered my gear into the hole where I proceeded to put it on, and yes, I had to drop below the ice on occassions to put the gear on.

So you obviously can dive from a spear house, but why in the "h e double hockey sticks" would you want to unless you had too?

Re: Renting a Ice Diving houes
This is what I plan to do with the crank down fish house that I am in the process of building.  I plan on having a hole in the middle of it large enough to dive out of.  I plan on making a ladder that would go from the ceiling down under the ice for easy in and out, or make a bracket in the floor for the ladder.  Either way, you will be able to remove the ladder when you are done.  Nice warm house to come into when done with a dive, change, and maybe fish a little too. I can't wait.
