We have a discusion on 2003 goals. I want to know what gota have it gear is on the shoping list this year.

My list goes like this (don't tell my wife Wink

)

1. a new computer dont know wich one yet
2. 2 tanks
3. a new set of reg.s
4. anything else I can sneek past the checkbook police.

The "checkbook police" killed me. The most dreaded enemy of all divers attempting to aquire more gear. ;D My God, just saw Fred's boat, and almost spit pop all over my monitor. Need to have some kind of a warning to prevent people from laughing while drinking, or vice versa.

For 2003: in order of purchase

- Pony Bottle
- Dry Suit
- Large single tank(s)

I like deeper diving, so have a pony bottle first on my list, not because it's cheapest, but because I think it is prudent for me to have an extra air supply immediately available in the case of primary failure. I've never had to share air via octo, thankfully, and don't wish to do so in the future. The Dry Suit doesn't need explaination Wink

. Finally, larger tanks mean more bottome time !!!

I've never "HAD" to share air on a dive either but have practiced it and it's something all divers should practice regularly to be better prepared in the event of an out of air situation. Having a pony bottle doesn't guarantee you will not have to share air. Chris will vouch for that. During our AOW course at Wazee he experienced a free flow at 100ft. and the instructor donated his primary to Chris. The instructor then got a free flow on his back up reg and went for his pony bottle which was hung up and he couldn't get it deployed so they had to ascend with the instructor breathing from his freeflowing reg until it finally stopped freeflowing on the way up when the warmer water closer to the surface thawed the second stage and stopped the freeflow.
