if you are diving east rush and want a plowed road i would recommend flickabirds resort. They also have heated icehouses for rent.

Here is a link that shows a map of Flickabirds resort:
Note that the star on the map is the actual address (at the road intersection) and the actual resort is East of the star and it is on East Rush Lake.
The last three dive sites are very near the peninsula toward the NE from Flickabirds Resort
The coordinates to Flickabirds resort are: N45.40.562 W93.03.956
Here is a link that shows driving directions from Minneapolis to Flickabirds:

Good job.

So we'll refresh this to confirm who's diving around xmas.

Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

Not that this will have any impact but I just remembered I'm on call the weekend after Christmas, so I won't be able to make it.  You guys will have to find another snow scooper.  Smile

Eventually I'm going to witness an ice dive.

Re: Ice (12/26 - 27)

I just changed out the bar oil in my saw to veggie oil. Veggie oil is thinner but it will save the planet Smile (you know... "take only pictures, leave only oil slicks") ;D I will bring an extra harness for someone if they need it.

[/quote]Make sure you run a bit of Diesel in teh veg oil after you are done with it.  Gets really hard to clean after it gums up.  We use NO oil anymore.

Re: Ice (12/26 - 27)
I won't be able to help out during the ice dive on the weekend of the 12/26-27 either.  The predicted snow storm (Thursday - Sunday) has my family's Christmas up in the air.  Hopefully I'll get a chance to help out with and watch another ice dive this winter.

Have a great time this weekend  Smile

:'(
Not me....I'm booked with work and won't be able ta get diving til January....

If yer goin to East rush you may wish to consider lights.  :Smile The last time I was under the ice on East Rush the visibility was best measured in inches, and without a light I would not have been able to see anything.

John, the best veggie oil for chainsaws (that I've found) is safflower oil.  It maintains a fluid consistency even in VERY cold temps, where some other veggie oils like corn oil tends to start turning solid.

Re: Ice (12/26 - 27)
AandA, thanks, I don't think I want to dive ice that's in inches. You're nuts.

The wife (trained tender) said she's likely to come out and help so that's at least 5. I'm going to send out some PM's to confirm ex-icers know this is happening.
