First open water dive of 2010 (in MN)
ok, normally someone throws up an ice out poll, but who's gonna do the first MN OW dive? (it's been 4 days since i dove, and i'm getting anxious)

we have open water all year long in Wisconsin  At least it leads to the underwater mine system  Still no cutting a hole an its 48 degrees!

were is that? y talking great lakes or mine pit. i have herd of some spring fed mines that are sometimes kept open. i think we got one in central Minnesota that is privately owned. not too deep. but also not really that big.Ive seen it once pretty cool has an island in the center. they guy rents out the lake for parties.and its full with Big Rainbow trout(privately stocked.. so no lisc needed. could theoreticaly spear hunt them)

I think that minnetonka will be late this year. had 30 inches of blue ice on the first of the month.

Your first dive in that should be with someone who is paying complete attention to you and helping you with it.  Bouyancy is a new trick with an air bubble flying around inside your suit.  Do yourself a favor and take the class.

Ice out statistics.  The smaller lakes should open up first, right?  So perhaps Perch or Little Long lake will be available before this?

The plan was to go out with some of the guys I've dove with before that have drysuits and see if they can help me out Smile  Just thinking about going to square and playing a bit on the platforms Smile
