New Wreck
Thankfully it sounds like the pilot will be ok.  I suppose investigators would frown on anyone diving it though...

Re: New Wreck
What time does it get dark these days...  8) I need to get more night dives in this season.
Lakefinder map says that the West end of this lake is 25' deep in the area it went in. The news did not have many details about the depth of the actual crash site.

Re: New Wreck
Duluth paper has updated info...

"It sunk in about 15 feet of water."

also...

"Neighbors said an insurance adjuster was at the scene this morning and that it wasn’t clear when or how the helicopter, a Robinson R44 Raven II, will be removed from the lake."

It was flown by a 24 year old named Eric Francis Monson. Here is the detailed info on the chopper that crashed:

Re: New Wreck
Island Lake is like Root Beer.  It's very "tannic", from Tamarack trees, I guess.  So viz is a foot or less.  Not what I'd call a fun dive.

Re: New Wreck
I can't go and see this one. 22nd anniversary tonight, and Divemaster dives Saturday and Sunday in the pits. The copter probably won't be in the water next weekend.
