traiuning day
Had a great day doing lift bag training in the gravel pits in maple grove today. the guys made 18 dives in zero vis water to raise a mini van. the depth was 40 feet. its been a very busy month so far, we made a 70 foot dive to recover a body, had a dive search on Thur for a possible drowning.
The call outs since the first of July have been one after  another. we have had hardly enough time for dive training.
we used three 500# bags and three# 250 lbs bags and then had to use a air wand to break the suction on the van. It was on its roof and about three feet of silt around it. Its fun to work with people who know and understand how to do things and it limits some of the dangers.
we had a reporter and a photo tog from the star and trib. with us all day doing a article for the paper. we had a guy taking pictures for some other group doing a thing on vol. dive teams also.

Re: traiuning day
Had a great evening for dive training, we spent 3 hrs doing metal detector work on the main beach at lake Sarah and found lots of junk.
On sat. we spent 8 hrs doing  jack stay search patterns, underwater metal detector and boat handling. the boat is 26 feet long with twin 115 mers on it. Next month we will be back lake Sarah finishing off the rest of this training.
Next month we will also be doing cooks bay channel looking for gold ingots and such.

Re: traiuning day
last sat. we had dive training at the gravel pit and worked with the van, all the windows were still in it.
We recovered a small safe on the west side of the pit, it rolled down to a small ledge at 25 feet and then rolled off the ledge into  a 40 foot hole. we lifted out and returned too its right full owner.

We had a great day in lake minnetonka 12/17/11, we have a new underwater camera to work with for crime scenes. the guys took about 100-125 pictures under the ice. we are working on underwater forensic class.
Its going to be a lot of work for us, the bigest problem will be the classroom material, we have started talking to the ME about it and the BCA also.
Merry Xmas to all and a happy new year.
