Visibility was dandy on Lake Harriet yesterday, the best we've had all season. Ice was still 16-17" thick, but starting to break down thru its entire thickness now, (as you can see in the pic.) where a divers bubbles, didn't come back to the hole but instead came up thru the ice in mass like a pourous sponge.
A park service employee said they had been overlooking the "no gas motors rule for, ice augers" leading me to think I'd have to describe my chain saw as nothing more then an, exceedingly capable ice auger Wink

The ice had pushed up a couple concrete slabs, about 3' on both sides of the boat ramp to the point that there wont be any launching till it gets pushed back down or replaced, but it made a handy spot to park.
Very early and late in the season a tandem wheeled wheel barrow works dandy to transport gear on ice as well as asphalt, its light (until loaded) and stable, where it falls down is in much more the 4" of snow when its tough to push, and when it falls thru as with the thin ice the last couple feet from shore.

although my crew is use to me carrying them, I'm not actually pulling Roberts sled, as I push my wheelbarrow, in that second pic, it just looks like it :-*

I haven't been out diving much. Actually, I hardly make it to this site anymore. So john, I agree with you but maybe we need to get them guys a new name. I am Gilligan so I reserve the original g-men team name to Terry, Joe and myself. Seeing how I'm hardly ever out with them it's not really G-men. The new crew should get a new name.

It will take a week or two for me to see comments so take your time wording the shots you're going to take at me. Smile

That is extremely tempting. Last time was awesome fun but I think I would rather use the time wreck diving then shooting fish. That being said, I could change my mind so if it happens and you need a 4th guy....
