TRINITY'S 3rd annual 2012/2013 icing challenge

             Hello Everyone,
                             Seems its that time of year again, when the visibility is best, maybe divers need to get put to the test, myself, I'd rather snuggle up to a nice warm,,,, ok, enough poem, for right now anyway.                 
                             So thinking it might be fun to do some videos underwater, seems everyone (other then me) is packing a little Go- Pro camera now and there sure are some funny videos on line under the ice, sounds like a good spot to start. We went out to Tonka and Harriet hoping for some ice but all we got was, ice water,,,36 degrees, brrrr, we all agreed we hadn't yet gotten our icing hide yet. It seemed colder then any ice dive in a long time. Hopefully ice this year wont be anywhere near as bogus as last year was. Going out this Sat. let me know if you'd like to jump,,,,,,,Trinity

My last 10-15 dives seemed warmer than usual.  ;D I had the 3mil on and had to switch to the 1mm >. Course, they were "working" dives  :-X. Vis wasnt very good, only 60'-85'.

I would like to hit mille lacs this year once we get good ice(drive on)

                Good to see you make it back Nate. We're all looking forward to drive-on ice and be done pulling my sled. Steve, Robert, Joe, Popo and I, went out last Sat. to begin the icing season on the northern end of Wayzata Bay on Tonka. Found open water around the marina docks up to a max of about 2.5" of clear, cut holes by hand and dove from hole to hole by being able to see the diver thru the ice, worked good to cover more area. No one else out there, and it sure was a good time just screwing around on the ice with the rain adding to the water coming up thru the holes, sure made for a slippery surface. Vis was about 15-18', not bad for such an overcast day. Joe and Steve have some videos of the screwing around if they get them posted.      Trinity

Sorry that I had to bail on you guys on Saturday.  I know that you understand my reason to leave.

Hope to get out on the next one.  Hopefully not getting another phone call like the one on Saturday.

Can't wait to see the video from all the messing around.  At least I did have some fun, before I had to leave.

if you think the ice is wild you should have seen the divers! I need to keep them on a leash.they goof off enough I could have pulled a fully loaded santa dive sled across wayzata bay powered only by a bunch of clowns wearing drysuits.
