Re: ice dive millelacs 3-30-08
I can do Sunday. I can find something to do Saturday but the weather is going to be worse Sunday.

Art and I may have to dive 2 days to close out the season.

Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

Hey guys, if you have room for one more, count me in for Sunday.  Got my ice diver cert about a month ago and I'm
dyin' to get wet again.  Don't mean to intrude on anything, I'm just a scubajunkie.

Hey Scubajunkie....Welcome to the wonderful world of ICE  8)  8)

We'd love ta have ya join us.

One of the GREAT things about MNSCUBA is getting divers together ta go DIVING!!!

Stay tuned for more posts...but at this point it looks like we'll be up to Millacs at Hunter's point on Sunday morning. If you've read some of our previous posts you'll see we have ropes, screws, saws, carabiners, etc.  You'll just need to show up with your personal gear and some enthusiasm.

Re: ice dive millelacs 3-30-08
WOW  ;D
What a great day  ;D

The ice was pretty thick (too thick to cut through with the 36" chainsaw).  We had to finish off the hole with hand saws.  In one of the attached photos Arcflash is indicating on the saw how thick the ice is  :o.
Although the weather was just fine we still set up the shelter.  The other photo is of Scubajunkie tending line for arcflash.
In addition to the "usual finds of fishing rods/anchors/lures/old bottles and other assorted treasure were two items of special interest.  One was a really neat blue glass candle stick that arcflash found ( HINT HINT Steve you HAVE ta post a photo of it!!).  The other find (drumroll please......or better yet nad perhaps more fitting the sound track to Indiana Jones - he shoulda been a diver ya know).  Shooter found a hand chipped stone implement.  It would appear to have been designed to be used to possibly chip ice or kill fish (maybe both).  Quite the archeological coup  Big Grin

A wonderful time was had by one and all  Big Grin

Re: ice dive millelacs 3-30-08
It was a very nice day of ice diving. I'm going to miss the end of the season.

The ice could have been better, one of us had his pony in the passenger seat. I'm disappoint I didn't do the same. Any way, the ice did it's job and I'll look at my oil pan tomorrow.  :-\

One anchor and it took 36 minutes to find, One mini Mag light, & a candlestick, um, I mean valuable depression era glass...

Thanks everyone.

Re: ice dive millelacs 3-30-08
Sounds like you guys had yet another incredible day. I really need to get my act together and get my ice cert. I did my pool time with Grumpie today for the Naui Dry suit class and then its only my Advanced Diver and then Ice Diver and then I'm there. I also received the green light from the missus to buy a dry suit so I need to get one before she sobers up... just kidding. But I need to do some research on what to get first. I really wish I was up there. You guys better not get bored with the ice diving before next winter... I kinda live vicariously through you guys and I give a report to the wife every time you find something to get her interested (brainwash?) Well take care and don't take unnecessary risks this spring.  John

Yup, it was a little sloppy, but that mini-van got around pretty well arcFlash.  It was worth the trip.  Thanks to you guys for letting me dive with you.  I sure appreciate it.
