just for the record, those appear to be all common carp in the vintage spearfishing pics you've been posting
there are some grass carp in MN but they are pretty rare and I never see them in the big clear lakes I dive (Tonka mostly) grass carp are a different species and are not as stocky as commons, but they get to be huge- they also have a different shaped mouth (no barbels and no sucker-type mouth) their dorsal fin is more pronounced, too they are also harder to catch on hook and line since they're mostly vegetarian but I caught one on a worm once (that's not me in the pic- just something I grabbed off google images) |
