Anyone want to take up a collection to buy DetectorGuy a bigger light for his camera??  ;D
My name is Lisa and I'm a SCUBAholic. It's been toooo long since my last dive!

Any dive plans for next weekend? Or perhaps a New Year's Eve or New Years Day dive?

Re: Ice (12/26 - 27)

I'm with you on needing a bigger light. Its a UK D8 Sunlight with Krypton bulbs, but it is a far cry from a HID light. I need a couple side jobs to be able to afford one of those bad boys. I retro-rigged an aluminum "L bracket" (that was used for holding a laser to metal studs) to the light so the camera attaches right to it. Where ever I point the light the camera is pointed that way too. I did not take the 2 rare earth magnets out of the "L bracket" and I am now finding out that they are messing with my compass. I could not figure out why I was having trouble heading back to the boat the second time. Now I know...

Re: Ice (12/26 - 27)
looks like a very productive day!  my sister is in town, so I had other things going on so I couldn't come out to play.  interesting harpoon!  can't wait for better pics and for someone to let us know what kind of logging or ice cutting tool it was!

Some people are like Slinkeys - not much good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs!

Looks like a good day.  Steve just loves to find anchors.  I'm with mcdiver, how 'bout a New Year's Day dive?

Re: Ice (12/26 - 27)
I have to go out of town on the 1st so I can't. I wish I could but I have to do some useless family stuff.

I'm back in the 3rd but it's unlikely I will arrive in time to catch the second round of dives if it is Sunday.

I should be free after the 1st.

So, are anchors a badge of honor or something?  Or is there a hot market for used anchors up there in the frozen north?  Smile

Re: Ice (12/26 - 27)
I gave three anchor to a buddy but I may try and sell them cheap to pick up beer money. Otherwise, I'm going to pile them up out back and scrap them but they only buy #500+ so one day pulled 75 pounds. I get at least one a dive now that I know how to hunt them. I leave the very old but if it's scrap they don't care so I'll start pulling everything.

Some Hi-tensile danforth are $200+ but you'd need to hunt then in sailing waters, fishermen don't need large ground tackle.

I enjoy the search more then anything. It gives purpose to a dive and that makes everything better.
