I've went without a few times but the profile was something I was familiar with. I use SPG to 'time' the dive. I had dive flag and use the line out for depth and my SAC for time. I also know the NDL times from Padi and I think I had Navy tables in my pocket.
It's pretty hard to drive an 80 past NDL in less than 50 feet.
Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

Is yours the dive flag I always see about 20 - 30' under the surface?

Nope! I never have that kind viz! No way could you see mine.  Mermaid: Did you define your dive needs? You may also want a setting for fresh or sea water. I don't know if all of them do this but it makes a tiny diff.
