if there was such a thing as an "advanced technique" in freediving reverse packs would rank right up there. It's a method where you not only expell all the air in your lungs with a forced exhale but you expell even more air. Freedivers use it to more rapidly kick in the dive reflex and to simulate very deep breath hold dives, I've heard as much as -170' or more in as little as a 10 foot deep pool.. I believe it. It is very, very uncomfortable, even just to drop 3 feet. Definetly takes time to build resistance to the technique, and not something that I would recommend trying. In fact, it is very dangerous and I would not encourage anyone to try it. Your lungs squeeze, fill with fluid, hurt, cough, bleed, etc. (but, I have to admit... I was hoping the remark in the helium post might generate a response.. thanks Wink, serious freediving isn't always about just holding your breath and goin')
