RE: Vintage Dive Photos.

This is the boat they picked up and sank in Christmas lake for divers in the early 1960s.

Early homemade air pump for diving.

Spearing common carp in Minnesota.

Our dive shop Minneapolis on Lake Street early 1960s.

Early dive equipment.

Early snorkel.

Not sure what this canoe is about, I think they donated it to a museum.

RE: Vintage Dive Photos.
just for the record, those appear to be all common carp in the vintage spearfishing pics you've been posting

there are some grass carp in MN but they are pretty rare and I never see them in the big clear lakes I dive (Tonka mostly)

grass carp are a different species and are not as stocky as commons, but they get to be huge- they also have a different shaped mouth (no barbels and no sucker-type mouth)

their dorsal fin is more pronounced, too

they are also harder to catch on hook and line since they're mostly vegetarian but I caught one on a worm once (that's not me in the pic- just something I grabbed off google images)

Weeki Wachee springs Florida with some sort of underwater camera. My dad made his living from photography. He developed film and made prints in Burma for the army in WWII.

RE: Vintage Dive Photos.
sonofadiver you certainly have enough great photos to make a book about the early history of diving in Minnesota

the technical quality of the pics is top notch

whether there's a big enough audience, well, that's another question
